ACTION ITEMS - THINGS TO BE DONE BY EACH TEAM

  • Frequently review the Master Teams Checklist (Click Here). If your team(s) have any box that says "NO" in the "Before the Event" section, then you have not completed all required steps for registration. You will not be allowed to check in or receive your schedules until you have zero boxes that say "NO." All items that are listed on the Masters Team Checklist and how to complete them can be found below:

    • Pay Registration Fee: ($125) Please follow THIS GUIDE on how to complete registration for the Regional Championship. For assistance with registration, please contact Dr. Naomi Boyer at: nboyer@polk.edu.

    • H&P Volunteer: Per our Help and Play Policy, you are required to provide 1 Full-Day Event Volunteer (adult 18+ only) for the Championship. Your volunteer can follow this volunteer registration guide. Once the volunteer has applied, Coaches need to submit this form. Help and Play Volunteers should only apply for the "Help and Play Volunteer" role in the Volunteer Registration System and must indicate your team as an "associated team" during the application.

    • Team Info Sheet: You will need to upload your Team Information Sheet via the special upload system here. This must be completed at least one week before the event. [CLICK HERE TO UPLOAD YOUR TEAM INFO SHEET]. Access a Team Information Sheet template here if needed. Please limit your Team Info Sheet to 2 pages.

    • Team Roster: You will need to upload your Team Roster with digitally signed Consent and Release Agreement Forms for all student participants. Click here to upload your roster [CLICK HERE TO UPLOAD YOUR ROSTER]. You can also upload paper Consent & Release Forms if needed. You can find instructions on how to access/edit your roster here and blank Consent & Release forms can be found here.

    • Mentor Award: Your team must complete this online form. [CLICK HERE FOR THE NOMINATION FORM]. The Coach is not to fill out this form and should simply open it and ask the team to complete it. Coaches may need to help team members with the computer or understanding questions.

  • If a hotel stay is needed, check out the group code information provided below for a discounted rate at hotels in Winter Haven near the tournament location. HOTELS:

    • LEGOLAND - Link to Book - $185.00 Deadline 1/25/2019

      • To make individual reservations, please have each family follow these instructions:

        1.       Go to https://reservations.travelclick.com/96400?hotelId=96400#/guestsandrooms.

        2.       On the Add Code bar, click on the + and choose Group Attendee from the drop down menu.

        3.       Enter your Group Code (FLLFEB19 ) and click Update. Select Check-In and Check-Out dates, then choose your room.

        4.       Complete online reservation using the listed special group rates. Credit card payment is required at time of booking.

        • This special group rate is non-commissionable and does not include applicable taxes of 12%, as well as a nightly Resort Fee of $20.00, per room per night.

        • All Themed rooms can accommodate a maximum of TWO ADULTS and THREE CHILDREN with one King bed in the adult sleeping area, and twin bunk bed plus pull-out trundle bed in the children’s sleeping area.

        • Please note that we do require that at least 1 adult occupy each room.

        • The nightly Resort Fee includes evening children’s entertainment, scheduled shuttle service to/from LEGOLAND Florida, pool towels, WiFi, local and domestic telephone calls, and overnight parking.

        • Beach Retreat guests will enjoy a complimentary breakfast buffet in Sandy’s Castle Restaurant.

T-Shirt Orders: T-Shirt Orders are placed through the registration system. There is information on how to complete this process in the Registration System Guide. Information on how to place a T-Shirt order can be found at the very bottom of the Registration System Guide.

Tournament Shirts are available in adult and youth sizes. All shirts are $15.00.

The deadline for t-shirt orders is Thursday, February 7, 2019.

Lunch Preorders: Lunch Preorders are placed by accessing this Lunch Preorder Form. The deadline to complete Lunch Preorders is Monday, February 11, 2019 at 11:59 PM. Payment will be accepted in the form of cash or check at the tournament on Sunday, February 17, 2019. Please make checks payable to Polk State College Foundation and be sure to place Basketball on the memo line.

All meal proceeds go towards the Polk State College Men's basketball program. Join us as we help build better young men both on and off the playing field. Please email Sasha Coleman at slcoleman3@aol.com if you have any questions about lunch preorders.

  • OPTION 1A - $6 - (2) Pizza Slices (pepperoni), chips, and drink

  • OPTION 2 - $6 - Chicken Sandwich, chips, and drink

  • OPTION 3 - $5 - (1) Hot Dog, chips, and drink

Pre-Registration: At the Team Social, coaches will be able to finalize the registration process by turning in their team Consent and Release documentation.  This can be with either the team roster from their FIRST dashboard or individual team member Consent and Release forms.  A combination of the two is acceptable as well.  All members listed on the Team Information Sheet must be accounted for through one or both of those methods.  In return, coaches will receive their team's schedule for the day, their pit assignment, and team event materials.

Coaches' Meeting in Advance: This year we will be holding the Coaches' Meeting for the Event in advance through a Webinar. The Coaches' Meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 from 7:00PM to 8:30PM. The webinar is accessible by following this link. At this meeting we will cover everything needed to prepare for the event. The Judge Advisor and Head Referee will be available during and after the meeting to answer any Judging or Robot Game questions.

Team Social: On Saturday, February 16, from 6:00 to 10:00 PM at the Winter Haven Public Library, the City of Winter Haven will be hosting a team social for the teams participating in the Central Florida FIRST LEGO League Regional Championship.  This is a free event and will include:

  • LIQUID NITROGEN ICE CREAM – The coolest ice-cream in all the galaxy and it even comes in three flavors

  • PLANETARY MINECRAFT – Boldly go where no Minecrafter has gone before in our space-themed Minecraft world in the Winter Haven Public Library’s SEEDLab

  • UFO DRONE FLIGHT – Test pilot a UFO drone in our government-funded alien research center

  • SPACE PIRATE VIRTUAL REALITY – Join the Earth Defense Force to protect the Earth in a virtual reality environment

  • SPACE ROCK BAND – Gather your friends and get ready to rock the planet using fake plastic instruments!

  • LAUNCH BUTTONS – Ignite your interests at our button-making and launching facility

  • JEDI ACADEMY – Learn the ways of the Jedi as you wield a light sword and train with a Jedi master

LEGOLAND Robot Day: LEGOLAND is hosting robot days on both Saturday, February 16 and Monday, February 18.  Click here to access the discounted tickets

Tickets for team members and their families and friends can be purchased at a discounted rate at the link above. Please note that there are a variety of ticketing options available for you to evaluate.  Also, you are limited to 20 tickets per transaction and the same credit card can not be used within seven days.  These are LEGOLAND policies but you are welcome to complete more than one transaction and/or use a different credit card.
